Self-Transport Paddlecraft Rentals

Durations: 8 and 24 hours

Pick up inflatable kayaks or paddleboards from the shop and take them to your favorite Black Hills lake.


Best Suited for: flexible plans, smaller groups, and paddlers comfortable transporting and setting up gear.

Standard Paddlecraft Delivery

Thursday through Sunday from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm

We deliver paddlecraft equipment directly to Deerfield Lake, so your group can show up and paddle. Deerfield is the 3rd-largest reservoir in the Hills. It is a no-wake, non-motorized lake, except for trolling.


Great for: groups, families, visitors, and anyone who wants to skip the hauling and setup.


Includes:

  • Delivery to Deerfield Reservoir - 15 miles from Hill City
  • Gear setup & pickup
  • Kayaks, paddleboards, &/or canoes
  • Paddles and life jackets
  • On-site orientation & Basic launch support


Premium Delivery + Guided Experience

Thursday through Sunday from 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm

Our most supported paddle option. We deliver the gear and provide guided, on-water support to help your group feel comfortable and confident.


Ideal for: beginners, larger groups, team outings, family gatherings, and anyone who wants a more hosted experience.

Deerfield Reservoir

  • Non-motorized
  • 15 miles from Hill City, 20-25 min drive 

Horsethief Lake

  • 30 acres - Walking Trail around the shoreline 
  • Non-motorized
  • 6 miles from Hill City, 15-20 min drive
  • Located near backside of Mt Rushmore

Sheridan Lake: 

  • 4th largest - 375 acres
  • Motorized, Swim Beach area - busy on wknds
  • 15 miles from Hill City, 20-25 min drive

CUSTER STATE PARK

There are 5 lakes within Custer State Park. They are smaller 20-50 acres at most. Perfect for swimming, boating, and hiking.

Whitewater Kayaking

Class I-III paddling can be found in the Black Hills in the early Spring through June. Our whitewater season is very snow-pack dependent.  Check with our partner - Black Hills Paddlesports for more information about venues.
