How our shuttle works

Step 1: Book your Shuttle

Reserve your spot on the shuttle to access some of the most scenic sections of the George S. Mickelson Trail.

  • Available Thursday–Sunday
  • Designed for full-day ride experiences
  • Group shuttle with limited seating (12 max)

Northern Trailheads include: Deadwood, Englewood, Dumont, Rochford & Mystic

Step 2: Choose your Bike

(during booking)

After selecting your shuttle, you’ll be prompted to choose your bike rental as part of the same booking flow—quick and seamless.

  • Select from standard bikes or e-bikes
  • One bike per rider
  • Rentals include helmet, rear rack, panniers & trail pass

Already have your own bike? You can still book the shuttle—just select the “bring your own bike” option during checkout.

Step 3: Check-In & Departure

Plan to meet at your scheduled time—the shuttle departs 30 minutes later. During that window, we’ll:

  • Check everyone in
  • Fit bikes and go over the operation
  • Load bikes onto the shuttle
  • Share route tips and trail highlights

Timing:
Meet at 8:30 AM → Depart at 9:00 AM

  • If peak summer temperatures require an earlier start, notification will be sent a couple of days in advance.
  • After Labor Day, the start time shifts to 9:00 AM to accommodate cooler Fall temperatures.

Step 4: Ride the Trail

We’ll drop the group at the furthest north trailhead, then make stops heading south—so you can ride back toward Hill City.

Expect:

  • Smooth crushed-limestone surface
  • Gradual downhill sections
  • Scenic tunnels, trestles, and forest views
  • A ride that’s great for a wide range of abilities

Ride as far (or as casually) as you’d like—your finish is right back at the shop.
